There were 62 entries to our Pre-Law Residential Essay Competition, launched in May and intended to encourage UK Year 12 school students to consider studying Law at Oxford.

Professor David Paterson elected President of The Physiological Society
David, who is Professor of Cardiovascular Physiology and Head of the Department of Physiology, Anatomy & Genetics at the University of Oxford, will take office at the Society's Annual General Meeting on 16 September.

Two Merton second-year undergraduates and an alumnus, together with a Jesus College student, have won the 11th International Roman Law Moot Court Competition.

A (Cam)bridge too far - Merton lose to St John's, Cambridge in University Challenge Final
Merton's winning run in this year's competition was finally brought to an end last night, as they were defeated by the team from St John's College, Cambridge, the scores standing at 145-100 at the gong.
