Food and Drink

All meals are all served in the magnificent Hall, which was built in 1277. Entering through the original wrought iron oak door, you follow in the footsteps of many historic figures that have enjoyed Merton’s hospitality over the centuries, including Queen Elizabeth I. The Hall can seat up to 148 guests in the traditional College style seating.

Conference attendees can enjoy:

  • Classic English breakfast
  • Buffet-style lunch
  • A two-course conference style dinner served in Hall each evening

Cheese Souffle

Special Gala dinner menus can be arranged on request at an additional charge.

Our Head Steward will be only too pleased to discuss wine requirements to accompany your dinner.


All meals are freshly prepared in the College kitchens, using only the finest ingredients, locally sourced whenever possible.

Drinks receptions can be arranged either on one of the stunning College lawns (subject to the weather), in a traditional College reception room, or in the heart of the ante-chapel.
