Véronique Gouverneur to give 2019 Prelog Lecture
Professor Gouverneur, Tutor in Organic Chemistry at Merton, has been awarded the 2019 Prelog Medal of the Laboratorium für Organische Chemie at ETH Zürich, and will give the Prelog Lecture on Monday 7 October.

Lightscape: an exhibition of work by Visiting Research Fellow Kieran Stiles
The exhibition features a series of paintings made by Kieran and inspired by the environment of Merton College; it is the culmination of a series of workshops run by him during his time here as Visiting Research Fellow in the Creative Arts.

Sir Christopher Dobson 1949-2019
It is with great sadness that the College has learned of the death of Sir Christopher Dobson FRS FRSC FMedSci, an alumnus and Honorary Fellow of the College.

Sir Rex Richards 1922-2019
It is with great sadness that the College announces the death of Sir Rex Richards FRS, who served as Warden of the College from 1969 to 1984 and as Vice-Chancellor of the University from 1977 to 1981.

Peter Holland awarded 2019 Darwin Medal
Peter, who is Linacre Professor of Zoology at Merton, has been recognised for his work with many organisms and genes elucidating key aspects of how changes in the genome influence evolution of animal development.

Higgs Hunters and Digital Delius projects win VC’s Public Engagement with Research Awards
Higgs Hunters, organised by Professor Alan Barr and his colleague Professor Chris Lintott, involved over 37,000 'citizen scientists' in searching for interesting features in data from the ATLAS experiment at CERN; Professor Daniel Grimley's Digital Delius project created a permanent digital exhibition of Delius’s manuscripts supported by a range of outreach activities.

Professor Schekochihin has been recognised for his work in elucidating the dynamics that regulate the properties of turbulent, magnetised laboratory and astrophysical plasmas.

Biological Sciences undergraduate Hermione Grassi has become the second Merton student in as many years to be presented with this award at the University of Oxford's Sustainability Showcase.

Merton's Tutor in Pre-Clinical Medicine is one of 73 distinguished leaders in physiological sciences named in the Society's 'Class of 2019'.
