Application for Photographic and Digital Reproductions

The following conditions govern the making of photographic and digital reproductions from archival documents, manuscripts and printed books in Merton College Library:

  1. Reproductions may be made only with the permission of the Librarian.
  2. The applicants may use the reproductions only for the purpose named by them in the application.
  3. The College retains the copyright of the reproductions.
  4. Reproduction of copyright originals can be undertaken only after the written consent of the copyright owners has been received by the applicants and the statement below has been accepted.

By submitting this form you undertake:

  • that the photographs or printouts requested will be used only for private study or research;
  • that you will not supply a copy of them to any other person; and
  • that should publication or other forms of reproduction ever be considered, you will make a separate application to do so.

(a) I have not previously been supplied with a copy of the same material by you or any other librarian or archivist;

(b) I will not use the copy except for private study or research for a noncommercial purpose and will not supply a copy of it to any other person;

and

(c) to the best of my knowledge no other person with whom I work or study has made or intends to make, at or about the same time as this request, a request for substantially the same material for substantially the same purpose;

(d) to the best of my knowledge the copyright owner has not prohibited copying of the work;

(e) should publication or other form of reproduction ever be considered, I undertake to obtain also the permission of the copyright owner and of Merton College.

I understand that if this declaration is false in a material particular the copy supplied to me by you will be infringing copyright as if I had made the copy myself.
