Speaker: Vijay Joshi, Emeritus Fellow in Economics, spoke about his recently published book, India's Long Road: The Search for Prosperity.
In the book, Vijay discusses India's economic resurgence, offering proposals for Indian economic and political institutions to achieve their fullest promise. His radical programme of action involves not only the liberalisation of markets but reform of the state so that it can competently perform its core functions.
India's Long Road: The Search for Prosperity was reviewed by Martin Wolf, the Financial Times's chief economics commentator. Wolf states that in his book, "Joshi combines enthusiastic engagement with the detachment of a scholar who has passed much of his life abroad. No better guide to India’s contemporary economy exists."
