Buildings & Facilities

Many of our buildings owe their existence to the generosity of our alumni and friends. The accommodation we provide for students in Holywell Street was made possible by donations from Takeshi Funahashi, while the transformation of the Old Stables area into a modern setting for College offices was enabled through the support of Mr Francis Finlay (1962 & Honorary Fellow). Our community also came together to fund the new TS Eliot Lecture Theatre, a state-of-the-art facility which can accommodate nearly 150 people at any one time.

The buildings constructed in recent decades now enable us to offer College accommodation to all undergraduates for the duration of their course, as well as to nearly all first-year graduate students who need it. This saves our students time and money and helps them to focus fully on their studies. Additionally, the TS Eliot Theatre and other facilities have been vital in growing the income we receive from conferences, which further supports the work of the College.

We are currently focusing our efforts on ensuring that our buildings are environmentally friendly, accessible for students with disabilities, and up-to-date in terms of materials and technology. Projects that were completed recently include a lift to Hall and the west side of Fellows Quad, new music practice rooms in St Alban’s Quad, and the renovation of student rooms in Rose Lane.

Looking to the future, donations will be vital in helping us to continue providing the best possible working and living environment for our students and academics.
