Rachel first held the post of Senior Tutor in 2009-10, and in 2015 returned for a second stint. Her first experience of Oxford was as a graduate student: she arrived on a Rhodes Scholarship in 1998, having taken her first degree at Adelaide University in South Australia. She read for an MSt and DPhil in English at Hertford College - her doctorate (subsequently published by OUP) was on Frost's influence on Northern Irish poetry, and she has also published on Hill, Moore, and Jennings. She was elected to two Junior Research Fellowships, first at Worcester College and then at New College, before taking up the post of Senior Lecturer at Oxford Brookes University where she taught for four years and was Director of the Poetry Centre. Whilst at Brookes she completed an MBA.
This full-time post combines the offices of Senior Tutor and Tutor for Admissions - these were formerly held by tutorial fellows who also had teaching and research responsibilities.
