Professor Jennifer Payne named as Acting Warden

Tutor in Law Professor Jennifer Payne will take up the role of Acting Warden of Merton College in 2023 when the current Warden, Professor Irene Tracey CBE, becomes Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford.

Professor Payne was formally elected by the College's Governing Body at its meeting on Wednesday 5 October 2022; she will hold the position whilst a successor to Professor Tracey is sought.

Professor Payne is the Linklaters Professor of Corporate Finance Law. She has been a Fellow and Tutor of the College since 1998. She is an international expert in financial regulation and debt restructuring. Her books include The Oxford Handbook of Financial Regulation (2015), Principles of Financial Regulation, (2016) and Corporate Finance Law: Principles and Policy (2020). She is currently a member of the Expert Advisory Panels to the Law Commission on Intermediated Securities and Digital Assets.
