Timothy Byram-Wigfield is an organist, pianist and choral conductor of experience and distinction. He was an undergraduate at Christ Church and more recently, the past Associate Conductor of the Oxford Bach Choir.

A pupil of Richard Popplewell and David Sanger, Tim studied at the Royal College of Music before taking up the Organ Scholarship at Christ Church. Whilst Sub-Organist at Winchester Cathedral, he made his BBC Radio 3 solo début recital, and was a finalist in the Royal College of Organists’ Performer of the Year Competition. Following appointments at Mary’s Cathedral, Edinburgh, and Jesus College, Cambridge, he spent 10 years as Director of Music at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, In 2013, Tim moved to London to take up the post of Director of Music at All Saints Margaret Street.

Tim’s playing has taken him around the UK, to the USA, Canada, France, Germany, Denmark, and the Netherlands. Solo CD recordings on the Delphian, Regent, Priory and Herald labels continue to receive commendation. Last year’s release of transcriptions (Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet overture to Verdi’s La Traviata prelude) was Editor’s Choice in Organists’ Review, whilst an earlier collection from 2003 was nominated for an Instrumental Category Gramophone Award: "carefully crafted interpretations played with consummate skill". His recital programmes are noted for their variety and appeal.

Recent diary engagements include recitals and concerts in Jesus College, Cambridge, the SeptembAyr Festival, St Edmundsbury Cathedral, for the Wendover Choral Society, the American Anglican Association of Musicians, the ‘Easter at King’s’ Festival, Birmingham’s Symphony Hall, and the Royal Albert Hall. He teaches piano and organ at Eton College and is a regular examiner for the Royal College of Organists’ diplomas.  Away from the organ console, Tim is a passionate gardener and plantsman.
