Before his untimely death at the age of 34, Gavin Bone produced a headstrong, modernist corpus of Old English translations while studying and teaching at Oxford which has been little studied. This talk centred on Bone's illustrations and reception for Beowulf and the reception of his translation, published posthumously in 1945.
