The Annual Halsbury Society Lecture

Date: Wednesday 3 February 2016
Time: 18:00
Venue
TS Eliot Theatre, Merton College

The Halsbury Society, the law society of Merton College, was delighted to welcome Lord Kerr PC QC, who gave a talk entitled 'The Batang Kali Killings'. There was an opportunity at the end of the talk to ask Lord Kerr questions.

In 1948 24 Malayan villagers were killed by a British army patrol. The UK Supreme Court last year rejected the possibility of holding a public enquiry into the deaths due to the events being 'historic wrongs'. Lord Kerr discussed the profound consequences this is likely to have for future inquests into deaths during the Northern Ireland Troubles.
