Sir Howard Davies

Howard Davies, who matriculated in Modern History and Modern Languages in 1969, and was Chairman of the NatWest Group from 2015-2024. He is also Chair of Inigo Limited, a French bank and a stable coin company in Amsterdam. In January 2026 he became Chairman of the Philharmonia Orchestra. He is a visiting Professor at Sciences Po in Paris, where he teaches courses in financial regulation and central banking. Earlier in his career he worked for the Foreign Office, the Treasury, McKinsey and Co and the Audit Commission. He was then successively Director-General of the CBI, Deputy Governor of the Bank of England, Chair of the Financial Services Authority and Director of the London School of Economics.


He has published 7 books on economy and finance in the last 25 years, the most recent being Global Financial Regulation:an opinionated guide (2026).
