Kathy Willis awarded 2015 Michael Faraday Prize

Merton Supernumerary Fellow Professor Kathy Willis has been awarded the 2015 Michael Faraday Prize and Lecture by the Royal Society, for her excellent work in science communication. This is awarded annually to a scientist or engineer whose expertise in communicating scientific ideas in lay terms is judged to be exemplary. The award, first made in 1986, is named after Michael Faraday, a Fellow of the Royal Society, who engaged in the public communication of science.

The prize consists of a silver gilt medal, accompanied by a gift of £2,500. The winner is also called upon to deliver a lecture at the Society, usually in January of the year following the award. Previous winners include Richard Dawkins, Steve Jones, Robert Winston, Brian Cox and David Attenborough.
