T S Eliot Theatre, Merton College

Welcoming Professor Irene S Lemos, Merton's Professor of Classical Archaeology, along with our DPhil students Katherine Hearine, James Hua, Zoé Lienard, Filippos Roussos, and Holly Winch. They will be sharing their insights and experiences of studying Archaeology at Merton.

Irene is an expert in the archaeology of Early Greece, with a focus on the period from the 'collapse' of the Mycenaean culture to the Persian Wars (circa 1200–480 BC). Her interests include exploring interconnections between Greek communities and the wider Mediterranean world, investigating the mechanisms of these interactions, and studying the introduction of transformative developments such as alphabetic writing and iron technology.

This event offers a unique opportunity to learn about the fascinating field of Classical Archaeology at Merton.
