Merton Messenger

Merton Messenger is a regular email newsletter sent to all Mertonians once or twice a term, keeping alumni up to date on College news, activities, podcasts, videos, performances and much more. Less formal than Postmaster, the Newsletter was published until 2016 and was an annual round-up of College and Development news, together with an introductory letter from the Warden, as well as information about recent and upcoming events.

To mark our 750th anniversary year, we published a richly illustrated book featuring archival and architectural highlights spanning the life of Merton College. Treasures of Merton College, published in October 2013, contains an introductory history, together with incisive text from members and friends of the College complemented by specially commissioned photography, revealing the stories behind the formation and growth of the first fully self-governing Oxford College.

Merton College: A Longer History
Merton College: A Longer History of the Buildings and Furnishings

Following the popular Short History, Alan Bott (1953, Bodley Fellow) has written a longer, illustrated history of Merton College's buildings and furnishings, including more than 500 plans and illustrations and a foreword Sir Martin Taylor, Warden 2010-18.
