Sir Howard Stringer's BBC audio drama wins award

A BBC audio drama which was executive-produced by Honorary Fellow Sir Howard Stringer has won an Outstanding Contribution award at the 14th BBC Audio Drama Awards

Central Intelligence was written by Greg Haddrick, produced by John Scott Dryden and Emma Hearn, and executive-produced by Howard Stringer and Jeremy Fox. The drama has been a smash hit with listeners on BBC Sounds and was recognised for the sheer scale of its ambition and its success with digital listeners, with over 2.5 million plays. It is part of the Limelight series of podcast dramas, which showcases fresh approaches to serialised storytelling and consistently ranks in the top ten most-listened-to podcasts on BBC Sounds. The drama returns for a second series on 20 June.

Kim Cattrall, who stars in the series as narrator Eloise Page, was present to celebrate the series' win at the ceremony on 30 March, which was held at the iconic Radio Theatre in Broadcasting House and hosted by actor and comedian Miles Jupp.

Sir Howard said about the series winning the award:

“I began my media career in radio before moving to TV and cinema, and now fifty years later it seems appropriate to end it in radio. Central Intelligence is timely in the shadowy world we find ourselves but there’s hope if you search for it.”
