Professor Ulrike Tillmann elected IMU president

Merton Fellow Professor Ulrike Tillmann has been elected the next President of the International Mathematical Union (IMU).

The IMU is the world’s foremost organisation responsible for bringing together mathematical scientists to cooperate and collaborate. As President, Professor Tillmann will help shape the next four years of IMU activity.

The election took place at the IMU General Assembly in New York City ahead of the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) 2026. From January 2027, Professor Tillmann will serve as President until after the next ICM in 2030.
