Strong contest for Choral Scholarships

Last week Merton College welcomed 36 candidates for choral award auditions. The candidates are hoping to enter the University in October 2014, and were based at Merton for three days. In addition to auditions, the young singers sang a short service in the College Chapel.
Choral Scholarships at Merton are keenly contested each September for admission the following year. The College Choir enjoys a high profile having recently been featured in the BBC series 'Music and the Monarchy'. The choir has recently returned from giving concerts in Sweden and in 2014 will take part in the College's 750th anniversary celebrations.
