Judy Armitage to give Stanier Lecture at UC Berkeley

Professor Judy Armitage, the Sub-Warden of Merton College, will give the Roger Y Stanier Memorial Lecture at the University of California, Berkeley next month. Her talk will be entitled 'Choreography of bacterial nanomotors revealed by live-cell imaging'.

The lecture was established in honour of the Canadian bacteriologist Roger Y Stanier (1916-1982), who made numerous fundamental contributions to categorising and characterising prokaryotic microorganisms during the 24 years he spent as a faculty member at UC Berkeley, before moving to the Pasteur Institute in Paris. Professor Stanier was a Fellow of the Royal Society and a Foreign Associate of the National Academy of Sciences and the Légion d’Honneur. The lecture series alternates every other year with a presentation at the Pasteur Institute.
