Checklist

  1. Sign and return the University Card Form and College Contract to the Admissions Office. The Card Form and College Contract trigger the creation of your student ID card, Single Sign On (SSO) and Oxford email account, and should be done as soon as possible.

  1. Log on to  Student Self Service to complete the first part of the registration process - there is a checklist here.

Once your signed University Card Form is processed, you will receive an email from the University's IT Services with your Single Sign On and logon details for Student Self Service, the web platform which you will use throughout your degree. Online registration for Student Self-Service must be done prior to arrival, and we strongly recommend you do this by Tuesday 30 September. The details will be sent to the email address that Merton is using to communicate with you, and so you should check that account regularly.

  1. Complete the Dietary Requirements and Food Allergies Form, even if you have no requirements or allergies. We need to receive this form by the deadline to ensure that your needs can be catered for during Freshers’ Week.

  1. Complete the online medical registration for the Jericho Health Centre. Please also read this letter from the College GP.
    or
Contact Jemma Underdown, the Academic Registrar if you intend to register with a different local surgery or stay with your home surgery. Please note, students are expected and strongly encouraged to register in Oxford unless there is a very good medical reason not to do so.

  1. Please also read this important information about immunisations.

  1. Check the Reading Lists Summary [COMING SOON] to ensure that you have received all information relevant to your subject. Start reading!

Many of the Merton Tutors ask their students to complete some preparatory reading and/or exercises before term begins. We will be sending this information out to you electronically as and when it becomes available.

  1. Take a look at the Academic Transition Support  information provided by the University and College to help you adjust to the move to higher education.

  1. Activate and manage your Oxford account and access your Oxford email account.

  1. Register for a remote access account.

  1. Set up a bank account - UK banks require evidence in order to set up a student account, including proof of identity, proof of address, and proof of student status. Prior to arrival, the original letter from the Senior Tutor can be used as proof of your student status. Once on-site and registered with College, you will be able to download a certificate of enrolment from Student Self-Service to serve the same purpose.

International students are encouraged to read through the University's Guide to opening a UK bank account for further details.
