Welcome to Merton! As the College’s Senior Tutor, I have responsibility for academic provision and oversight of the undergraduate and graduate admissions processes. I work closely with the Schools Liaison and Access Officer and Undergraduate (JCR) Access Officer on outreach initiatives to encourage pupils of different ages and from a range of backgrounds to consider applying to Oxford University.
I grew up in Yorkshire and went to school in Bradford. After completing an Art Foundation course in York, I went on to study Zoology at the University of Newcastle before completing a PhD in Applied Insect Biology at the University of Bristol. After holding a teaching post at the University of Glasgow, I moved to Oxford and into an academic-related career. I have been Tutor for Admissions at three Oxford Colleges and have held roles in Oxford’s Social Sciences Division, the Department of Politics and International Relations, and as Director of Oxford’s Fees and Funding team. I joined Merton in 2020 and love the College for its strong sense of community, for the way in which our students inspire and support each other, and for its beautiful buildings and green spaces.
