Sofia Kossida (1998)

Sofia Kossida is a Professor of Bioinformatics at the University of Montpellier, France, where she has served since 2014. She is also Director of IMGT®, the international ImMunoGeneTics information system, and Director of the CBS2 Doctoral School.
Born and raised in Athens, Greece, she studied Biology at the University of Crete before completing a DPhil in Zoology at the University of Oxford. She subsequently undertook postdoctoral research at Harvard University.
Her professional experience spans both academia and industry, including roles with LION Biosciences, Bayer, Endocube, and Novartis across the United States and Europe. She previously established and led a research team in Greece specialising in comparative genomics and bioinformatics.
Her research focuses on bioinformatics, computational biology, immunogenetics, and the analysis of genomic and immune-system data. Through her academic leadership and research, she contributes to scientific innovation, doctoral education, and the development of international research collaborations.
