Sam Whipple (1983)
I spent over 20 years as a journalist at the BBC working for BBC World, BBC Newsnight and other BBC News roles. I was also a member of the BBC Coaching Network and a leadership trainer.
Since leaving the BBC I have worked on major projects at BBC News introducing new staffing models and ways of working to increase efficiency and engage with new audiences. I've also advised media companies in Mongolia, Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Slovakia, Portugal and India. I provide regular training courses for the BBC Academy on general leadership skills, coaching and performance conversations. I designed and delivered the leadership development programme for the John Smith Trust to support its fellows from ex-Soviet Union countries in promoting good governance & social justice. I have delivered several leadership and conflict resolution courses for the National Film and Television School, and managed a project at ScreenSkills to provide pathways into craft roles for people who would not otherwise break into the screen industry.
