Rami Chowdhury (2003)

I am a software technology leader currently in Earth observation, an industry that uses satellite imagery and geospatial data to help governments and businesses understand activity and change on the ground. As a Staff Engineer at SkyFi, I lead technical work for its government solutions team. This has included delivering SkyFi’s first defense platform for a U.S. Space Force program and applying AI to satellite imagery from multiple providers.

Previously, I held senior engineering and leadership roles across insurance, cloud infrastructure, machine learning, business travel, and enterprise data science. I have brought products from concept to commercial launch, built systems supporting more than $15 million in new annual revenue, led international expansion, and grown an engineering organization from two to 25 people. I also co-founded two software startups earlier in my career.

My degree in PPE has helped me connect technology with commercial strategy, customer needs, organizational development, and wider social considerations. That breadth has been especially valuable in smaller companies, where leaders routinely work across disciplines. I also hold an MS in Computer Science from University College London and am a Python Software Foundation Fellow and open-source maintainer.
