I have been ordained in the Church of England for more than ten years, and I am currently the Vicar of Wantage, about 20 miles south of Oxford. Until four years ago I was Chaplain at The Queen’s College, so I have recent experience of working with and supporting those studying at and graduating from Oxford. I also myself recently completed a part time doctorate, twenty years after leaving full time education. Prior to ordination, I worked as a policy officer and training manager in information rights law and regulation.
I have a particular interest in helping people find out what they are called to, and in helping them grow in confidence and self-awareness. Within the Church of England I have been very much involved in vocations i.e. supporting and assessing those considering or training for ministry. I also have experience on recruitment panels to both church and secular roles.
Two aspects of my own experience may be of interest to some mentees. Firstly, I changed direction and went back to full time study after several years in the workplace. Secondly, I have often been in male-dominated environments or the first woman in a particular role – alongside being married and a mother.
