Background
French-born soprano and composer Héloïse Werner is currently an Associate Artist at Wigmore Hall. She is a recipient of the Prix Nadia et Lili Boulanger 2025 from Académie des Beaux Arts and the PRSF Composers’ Fund 2025. Her albums 'Phrases' and 'close-ups' have been released on Delphian Records, both to critical acclaim.
Research
Héloïse's research project for this fellowship combines her programming, composition and performance practises. She will work on her third album programme, which will be first performed at the Wigmore Hall in July 2026, and then recorded in Merton College Chapel for release in Spring 2027 on Delphian Records. The programme will be a carefully balanced blend of early and new music for vocal quintet and cello trio, including a new 20-minute commission which she will write for the whole ensemble. During her fellowship, she will compose the new work, which will be tailored to the acoustics of Merton College Chapel, and research and experiment with the various early works, arranging them especially for the lineup (with her long term collaborator Colin Alexander), again with the chapel’s acoustics in mind.
