I am Gabriela Frei and I currently work as an Associate Member at the Faculty of History at Oxford. I have a background in history and law and after my DPhil in History at Oxford I have worked as a postdoc at Oxford, Cambridge, Brussels and Vienna where I pursued my interdisciplinary research at History and Law Faculties. Most recently, I have worked as a Lecturer in Contemporary History at the University of the German Armed Forces in Munich. In my various positions in academia, I have taught at BA- and MA-level, supervised theses, led seminars and lectures and I regularly publish. Apart from my academic duties, I have worked for a Canadian charity, organising field trips to Europe to educate A-level students about the First and Second World War. I am also engaged in the Europaeum, a network of leading European universities, which provides leadership programmes for postgraduate students. My research at the intersection of law and history also brings me in touch with practitioners, in particular legal advisers and the military of various countries. My current project concerns the global order of the oceans, which is part of the British Academy and Carnegie Endowment of International Peace on Global (Dis)Order.
