Professor Franziska Jahnke

Visiting Research Fellow

I'm a professor in mathematics, working at the University of Münster in Germany. My mathematical journey started with an undergraduate degree in Freiburg (Germany), then I came to Oxford for my DPhil which I finished in 2013. Since leaving Oxford, I've been a postdoc and a junior professor (both in Münster), and an associate professor (more precisely a Universitair Hoofddocent) at the University of Amsterdam.

Research

My research area is mathematical logic and its applications. My research focus is on model theory and its interactions with arithmetic geometry.

This means I am studying objects arising in number theory (like perfectoid fields and rings) through the lense of logic. The aim of my stay in Oxford is to exchange new ideas with members of the Logic group as well as the Number Theory group in Oxford, and of course to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere of the university and the city!
