Peter Warry (1968) has had a varied career working in both public and private sectors. Public appointments include the Prime Minister’s Policy Unit (1984–6), chairing of the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council and the Science and Technology Facilities Council, leading the review on increasing the economic impact of the Research Councils (the ‘Warry’ report, 2006), and most recently chair of The Royal Mint

Peter’s last private sector executive position (1995) was as chief executive of Nuclear Electric responsible for the English nuclear power stations after which his non-executive career included chairing Kier Group plc, BSS Group plc, Victrex plc and River & Mercantile plc

He was an honorary industrial professor in the School of Engineering at the University of Warwick for 25 years, a visiting research fellow in archaeology at the University of Reading and holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Gloucestershire. Peter is an active archaeologist and specialist in Roman tiles on which he has published two books and numerous articles.
