Telethon donors help drive medieval stained glass window appeal

The December Telethon took place from Tuesday 7 to Monday 13 December, and was a triumph. Following our first successful remote campaign, this was a smaller-scale version, where five callers connected with Mertonians around the world from the safety of their rooms in College or at home. Callers really enjoyed hearing about the variety of careers our alumni are involved in, and swapping stories about Merton in previous years and now.

We are also delighted to announce that the Telethon raised over £40,000 towards a variety of projects, including a new appeal to preserve the Upper Library's medieval stained glass, as well as unrestricted gifts for the College to direct where the need is greatest. This is an amazing result, which reaffirms the generosity of our alumni, and we are very grateful to all who contributed during or following the campaign.

We would like to thank everyone who was able to talk to our callers, for sharing insights and offering advice, as well as a fascinating glimpse into how Merton has changed. We hope you will continue to pick up the phone when Merton is calling for many years to come!
