Sir Peter Tapsell 1930-2018

It is with great sadness that the College has heard of the death of Sir Peter Tapsell.
Sir Peter read Modern History at Merton from 1950 to 1953 and, in parallel with a successful career in stockbroking, served as Member of Parliament for Nottingham West from 1959 to 1964 and for Louth and Horncastle from 1966 to 2015. When he stood down from Parliament in 2015 he was Father of the House and had served on many public bodies. A loyal friend to the College, Sir Peter was knighted in 1985, appointed to the Privy Council in 2011 and elected an Honorary Fellow in 1989.
