New Choir CD Release: Orchestral Anthems Volume II

We are delighted to announce the release of Orchestral Anthems Vol. II, a stunning new album from the Choir of Merton College, Oxford in collaboration with the acclaimed Britten Sinfonia. The album is now available to stream and buy from Delphian Records.

Featuring richly expressive works by Bairstow, Elgar, Ireland, Stanford, Walton and Wesley, this collection showcases the full range and beauty of British orchestral choral music.

The release has already garnered enthusiastic praise, including a feature on BBC Radio 3’s Record Review on Saturday 31 May. The broadcast highlighted the “purity of the singing” and described the album’s sound as “sonorous” and “sumptuous”.

John Quinn of MusicWeb International also wrote: “The music glows... Merton College Choir and Britten Sinfonia give vital, colourful accounts.”

This recording is the second in a new series of orchestral anthems and represents a significant milestone for the choir under the direction of Benjamin Nicholas.

We warmly invite all members of the college and wider community to listen and enjoy this outstanding contribution to the choral repertoire.
