Merton Student Contributes to Oxford’s Second Place Finish in UKIEPC
Merton third-year Mathematics & Computer Science student, Ip Tsz Oi, played a significant role in securing an impressive second-place finish for the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom and Ireland Programming Contest (UKIEPC), a prominent event in the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) series.
Competing on 19 October, Ip joined teammates from St Hugh’s and Keble Colleges to tackle a demanding set of programming problems alongside 250 teams from 29 universities across the UK and Ireland. Oxford’s team solved 11 out of 12 challenges, finishing just three minutes behind the University of Cambridge.
Following this accomplishment, the top Oxford teams, including Ip’s, will advance to the Northwestern European Regional Contest in the Netherlands in late November, competing for a spot in the ICPC World Finals in 2025.
