Former Visiting Research Fellow elected to Royal Society of Literature

Will Eaves, a former Visiting Research Fellow in the Creative Arts at Merton, has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.

Will Eaves, who was at Merton in Michaelmas term last year, is a novelist, poet, teacher and musician. He has been Arts Editor of The Times Literary Supplement (1995–2011) and Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Warwick (2011–2020). His books have been shortlisted for many prizes. His most recent novel, Murmur (2018), won the 10th anniversary Wellcome Book Prize and the Republic of Consciousness Prize for fiction in 2019. He co-presents a podcast about neuroscience and literature with Professor Sophie Scott of the Institute for Cognitive Neuroscience at UCL.

Our programme of Visiting Research Fellowships brings leading academics into the College community; there are normally two Visiting Research Fellows resident in any term, and fellowships can be held for one to three terms. Every application has to be sponsored by a Fellow of the College, and applications are considered in a gathered field at the end of September each year.
