College hosts first Thai Chemistry International Symposium

Fourth-year Chemistry undergraduate Jiratheep Pruchyathamkorn was part of the committee that organised the first Thai Student Chemistry Symposium (TSCS), held at the College on Saturday 18 May. TSCS, a non-profit organisation, aims to enhance research ideas and strengthen relationships between Thai students studying chemistry and related fields across the UK.

The symposium, held in the TS Eliot Theatre, included talks from several Oxford Chemistry academics and attracted over 70 national and international students wishing to reinforce their academic expertise. In addition, the attendees were able to take advantage of networking opportunities and gain knowledge about science-related careers within Thailand, both in the public and in the private sector.

Following the success of this event, TSCS's organising committee intend to hold an annual academic conference. Our Conference & Events team were delighted to play a significant role in making the day a successful one, with the symposium's organisers saying:

"The event on Saturday went very well, with excellent feedback from all participants. Without the support from your team and the College, this first TSCS would not have been this successful."
