Boris Zilber receives 2015 Pólya Prize

At last month's Annual General Meeting of the London Mathematical Society (LMS), Merton's Boris Zilber, Professor of Mathematical Logic, was presented with the 2015 Pólya Prize. The prize—named after Hungarian mathematician George Pólya, an LMS member for over 60 years—is awarded "in recognition of outstanding creativity in, imaginative exposition of, or distinguished contribution to, mathematics within the United Kingdom". The citation for this year's award noted Professor Zilber's "visionary contributions to model theory and its applications".

The LMS, which this year celebrates its 150th anniversary, held their 2015 Annual General Meeting on Friday 13 November at BMA House in London. Prizes were presented by Professor Terry Lyons, LMS President and a Fellow of St Anne's College, Oxford.
