BBC broadcast Choral Evensong from Merton

On Wednesday 11 January, BBC Radio 3 broadcast Choral Evensong live from the Chapel; there was a repeat broadcast at 3:00pm on Sunday 15 January. The service included music by Benjamin Britten, Richard Ayleward, George Dyson, Robin Holloway - the first broadcast of his Christmas Sequence, a piece selected to be part of the Royal Philharmonic Society’s ENCORE Scheme, and Olivier Messiaen.
The first lesson, taken from the Book of Isaiah, chapter 49, verses 1 to 7, was read by Alice Love Twelves (2014); and the second, from the Epistle to the Hebrews, chapter 1, verses 1 to 12, by Oliver Pateman (2014). The organists were Alexander Little (2015), Senior Organ Scholar, and Thomas Fetherstonhaugh (2016), Junior Organ Scholar.
