MC3 AGM and Weekend in Brooklyn

MC3's 2015 Spring Weekend offered an irresistible array of great food and refreshment, guided tours, cultural and sporting events, all in the company of Merton’s extended family of friends.

The programme included:

• Friday Evening: casual cocktail reception and Texas-style barbeque followed by either:
• • a seat in a VIP suite to see a Brooklyn Nets basketball game; or
  • a seat at the Brooklyn Academy of Music for Ibsen’s Ghosts.
• Saturday: MC3 AGM in the morning followed by guided tours of sights of Brooklyn, the Bridge and ending with a private tour of the new 9/11 memorial and museum. In the late afternoon, guests were treated to a lively illustrated talk, Tolkien at Merton, given by Professor John Bowers (1973), Professor of English at the University of Las Vegas. Later, dinner was held on the Penthouse level of Brooklyn Law School offering spectacular views of the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn and New York skylines.
• Sunday: Brunch served in the Law School, after which guests could explore many museums and historic sites of Brooklyn.
