Thinking3D: History of Science Collections
On 25 October Oxford college libraries—including Merton's—held an event called Thinking3D: History of Science Collections, thematically linked to the Bodleian exhibition, Thinking3D.
An orientation session was followed by an open afternoon of mini-displays in college libraries from 2:00pm to 4:30pm.
At Merton we had a small exhibition celebrating Warden Sir Henry Savile (1565) and the earliest holders of the Savilian Chairs of Astronomy and Geometry. We also had a pop-up display of additional history of science items selected by library staff members.
The day concluded with a lecture by Professor Martin Kemp entitled 'Drawing as Visual Knowledge'.
