Compassionate Fund

The Merton College Compassionate Fund exists “for the relief of members of the College their wives widows dependents and issue who are in straitened circumstances”. Applications are invited from Mertonians experiencing such unforeseen hardship (which may be the result of unemployment, illness, bereavement, or other changes in personal circumstances). Grants do not normally exceed £3,000.

Applications are considered by the trustees of the Compassionate Fund: Professor Jennifer Payne (Warden), The Revd Canon Justin White (Huffington’s Chaplain), Mr John Booth (President of the Merton Society) and Mr Mark Davison (Chair of the Merton Society).
