Merton undergraduate wins criminal law prize

First year law undergraduate Ian Simester has been awarded the Slaughter & May Prize for Criminal Law, which recognises the best paper submitted in Law Moderations.

Ian says:
"This award is both a great honour and a pleasant surprise! It means a lot to be recognised for all of the hard work that went into preparing for Moderations. Hopefully, the award will also provide some motivation for continued success in the future.
"Studying law at Merton is by no means easy. There is a well-established culture of excellence in the college, which challenges us daily. There is always more work to do. However there is also a culture of support, and there is always someone to look to for help, be it a legal issue or a completely unrelated one. And there are also plenty of opportunities to do things outside the classroom, be it music, playing a sport, drama - or even trying your hand at punting!"
