Merton Choirbook commission short-listed for awards

We are delighted that one of the commissions from the Merton Choirbook has been short-listed for the British Composer Awards. Cecilia McDowall composed O Oriens for the College Choir in 2012; it is one of seven Magnificat Antiphons commissioned by the Chaplain of Merton, Revd Dr Simon Jones, for the Merton Choirbook. The two other short-listed composers, Matthew Martin and Gabriel Jackson, also contributed Antiphons for this collection.

The Merton Choirbook is a collection of some fifty new compositions, all written for the 750th anniversary of Merton College. Full details of the collection, and details of forthcoming premieres will be announced shortly.
