Organ Recital - JS Bach's 'Clavier-Übung III'

Date: Friday 20 February 2015
Time: 20:00 - 21:45
Venue
Merton College Chapel

The monumental third part of the Clavier-Übung, often referred to as the German Organ Mass, is JS Bach's largest and most extensive collection for the instrument; a compendium of 21 chorale preludes, each appearing in two contrasted settings. They encompass an enormous range of styles, many musically complex or technically fiendish, and together are a true test of the organist's skill.

Daniel Hyde is Informator Choristarum, Organist and Fellow of Magdalen College, Oxford and a regular accompanist to the BBC Singers on Radio 3. Daniel made his solo BBC Proms debut in 2010 performing Bach at the Royal Albert Hall; this concert marked the halfway point in an epic survey of Bach's complete organ works in weekly recitals throughout the academic year.
