Research at Merton: Global Directions

Global Directions is a research group of the fellows and graduate students at Merton College working on pressing contemporary international challenges. International conferences, day-to-day exchange, informal seminars as well as public events provide a stimulating environment for anyone interested in issues such as climate change, humanitarian crisis response, economic development, nuclear proliferation, the regulation of armed conflict, and the effects of the changing distribution of power in the international system, particularly with the rise of China and India.

Participants from within Merton mainly come from international relations, politics, economics, and law, but the group seeks as broad a disciplinary background as global questions reach. Our events are open to and attended by fellows, visiting researchers, and students from across Oxford's departments and centres.
