Wyliot Fellow John Booth made Chairman of The Prince’s Trust

Mr John Booth (1976), a Wyliot Fellow of Merton College, has been made chairman of The Prince’s Trust and has also been appointed as a Trustee of Tate

Established in 1976, The Prince’s Trust helps and mentors young people as they establish their own businesses. John was previously an Enterprise Fellow of the Trust for five years. Commenting on his appointment, John said:

"The Trust has a bold new strategy, to reach a million more young people in the next ten years. It will be a real privilege to offer my support in achieving this ambitious goal."

Mr Booth has spent his career in finance and equity investment, and is currently chairman of a number of public and private companies, a trustee of several charities, and a member of the Chancellor’s Court of Benefactors of Oxford University; he also chairs Merton’s Development Board.

The Tate Board of Trustees determine the policy and strategic direction for the gallery, and act as guardians of the public interest. The board is made up of 14 members, 13 of whom are appointed by the Prime Minister. John joins artist practitioner Professor Jane Wilson of Newcastle University who was elected in March of this year; he will serve as a Trustee for a four-year term, until August 2022.
