From black holes to medieval poetry: College funds 17 student summer projects
Each year the College offers funding to undergraduates wishing to undertake research during the Long Vacation; the scheme is competitive, with students submitting research proposals to the Warden & Tutors’ Committee who judge the applications.

David Bostock 1936-2019
It is with great sadness that the College announces the death of Mr David Bostock, Emeritus Fellow and former Fellow & Tutor in Philosophy, on 29 October at the age of 83. David initially read Literae Humaniores at St John’s College, Oxford, matriculating in 1957.

Jessica Rawson awarded Honorary Professorship at Peking University
Our former Warden, now an Honorary Fellow, and Professor of Chinese Art and Archaeology at the University of Oxford was presented with the award at a ceremony on Tuesday 5 November 2019.

Women hold four top roles at Merton for first time
This academic year, for the first time in the College's history, there are women occupying the roles of Warden, Sub-Warden, MCR President and JCR President.

Former Merton student wins Max Perutz Science Writing Award
Akira Wiberg has won the main prize of this year's Max Perutz Science Writing Award; he received the £1,500 prize for his article "Getting on your nerves" at an awards ceremony on 15 October.

Véronique Gouverneur to give 2019 Prelog Lecture
Professor Gouverneur, Tutor in Organic Chemistry at Merton, has been awarded the 2019 Prelog Medal of the Laboratorium für Organische Chemie at ETH Zürich, and will give the Prelog Lecture on Monday 7 October.
