Choral Workshop

Date: Thursday 8 February 2018
Time: 10:30 - 19:00

A chance for Year 11 & Year 12 students to learn more about the opportunities for singers here. The Choir of Merton College is one of Oxford’s leading mixed-voice choirs, made up of 30 undergraduates and post-graduates and sings the services during term-time in the 13th-century chapel. The College offers Choral Awards each year for sopranos, altos, tenors and basses.

The day was led by our Director of Music Benjamin Nicholas. There was an opportunity to learn about the admissions procedure, to meet current students, to sing with the choir, and to enjoy lunch and tea in the College Hall. Potential candidates were also able to sing in a workshop led by our singing teachers, Giles Underwood and Carys Lane. Accompanying teachers, parents or carers had the opportunity to learn more about the admissions process and the college as well.
