My current research interests are in the treatment of severe psychiatric illness and the application of neuroscience in mood disorder. I have previously worked on the physiology of muscle receptors, the pharmacology of serotonin and isotope based imaging in psychiatric disorder. My future plans are to foster the development of the imaging tools required to measure the subtle impact of mood disorders on the brain. Severe mood disorders are, or become brain diseases and to improve our understanding of the impact of our treatments we need better ways of examining brain structure and function. Oxford provides a fantastic environment in which to achieve this.
