Modern Languages (German)
The main focus of my research is on German-Jewish literature since 1945: having previously worked on the Holocaust novel by survivors, I am currently concentrating on literary responses to the past in second- and third-generation texts. Future research will include projects on German-Jewish relations in contemporary writing by German and Austrian Jews and non-Jews, and on postmodernism in German literature.
German language and literature from the eighteenth century to the present, with a special interest in modernist and contemporary writing. Prescribed authors offered include Heine, Thomas Mann, Grass, Wolf and Sebald.
