Subjects
Organic and Bioorganic Chemistry
Research Interests
- The development of catalytic antibodies and their use in synthesis
- Combined metal-enzyme and metal-antibody catalysis
- The design, synthesis and characterisation of a wide variety of fluorinated organic systems, especially fluorinated analogues of bioactive compounds as well as fluorinated molecular probes for imaging purposes (18F PET imaging).
- The development of new synthetic methodologies for the preparation of various phosphorus containing transition state analogues and homochiral P-stereogenic ligands
The long-term aim of our research is to combine the tools and principles of chemistry with the molecules and processes of living cells to create molecules with new catalytic activities. New insights can be gained into the molecular mechanisms of complex biological and chemical systems by studying the structure and function of the resulting catalysts.
Teaching Interests
Synthetic organic chemistry, asymmetric synthesis and catalysis, biosynthesis of natural products, biological chemistry
